Hello Everyone,
Some of you may remember me as a former member of this forum. I am a medical student, studying in Ukraine, but originally from India.
I suffered from 2 panic attacks back in November 2005, recieved complex therapy immediately, and i have recovered, almost completely. It's been 2 years and i havent had a panic attack since.
Since i was afflicted with this disorder, i came to this site and forum 2 years back in search of support. And i met some wonderful people suffering from these disorders, who gave me alot of support. And i am grateful to them.
I noticed that due to the delay of treatment, and appropriate counselling, their problems increased and more disorders accompanied panic attacks.
Since there is very muddled information on the treatment and counselling of such disorders, i am attempting a undergraduate research regarding this topic.
This research will benefit everyone, hopefully.
I have experienced panic attacks myself, and i suffered for some time before i battled it. I would like to do something for the people who still suffer from it. And i would grateful and obliged , if all of you supported me in this study. I hope and wish to help everyone suffering from panic attacks from my study research.
Everyone and anyone who is interested in this study, may mail me at drgaidhane@gmail.com , or may post a reply to this thread.
This research will take only 10 minutes of your time, online, through mail correspondence. Just a few questions, and a few answers. It will be a anonymous survey. I assure you no infringements will occur.

This topic and study is very personal to me, and very very important, and i wish everyone benefits from my study.
Again, i would be grateful to each and every person who responds to this research. This is for all of us.

The aim of the study to establish that immediate treatment will result in better prognosis and eliminate concomittant disoders, or reduce the possibility of
concomittant disorders. The conclusion of the study shall be that the efficacy of the treatment and the prognosis depends upon how immediate or delayed the
treatment was.
I am conducting as well as participating in this study. This study is backed by my university, Odessa State Medical University, Ukraine. A senior
Epidemiologist and experienced researcher will help me with this study, and help me with the statistical part of it.
The Study shall be completed by January end, and shall be submitted the annual conference of my university by April 2008. As soon as the conference ends, a
report and presentation will be sent to all the participants. I also wish to submit this study in the local Journals Of Psychiatry, if my university approves it.

You can Participate in this study by filling out the survey form on this page : http://osmu-issr.8m.com/form.html (http://osmu-issr.8m.com/form.html)

Or you can send me your email address and i can send you the questionnaire by email.

Thank you Once again,
Monica G.

Hi Monica,
I think it is great that you are doing undergraduate work on this subject as panic attacks are not taken seriously by a wide section of the population. I am glad you have recovered from yours.
I would be happy to help in your research, my email address is eibhlin-0711@hotmail.com

thank you very much for your co-operation. i will send you a email shortly. I really hope this study helps us all. And yes i do wish doctors should take this problem seriously , as well as other people, so that we can get therapy in time. I really think if we recieve therapy in time, and appropriate therapy that is, we can recover faster.

I thank everyone who participated in this study. I am due to present the research context in the Annual conference on my university.
I have received alot of data and responses, and my dilemma posses as to what all to include in the report.
I noticed 2 things:
1. People who were offered treatment late into the disorder, had already developed complications and concomittant diseases. People who were offered treatments a little earlier, proved to have better prognosis.
2. People who recived RECBT ( Emotive and Cognitive Behaviour therapy ) along with pharmceuticals like anti depressants and anxiolytics , coped with the disorders much better than people recieving only drugs.

Let me know which of the above topics is most interesting for you.
At this point as a doctor, both the above topics should be shown to health professionals, to diagnose and treat effectively. But i noticed that alot of people received treatment late, because they couldnt identify their symptoms, and alot of them were afraid of medications.
Either I wish to use the topic: RECBT in conjunction with Psychiatric drugs produced better results in Panic Attack Sufferers.
OR topic number 2: Factors contributing to Delayed Treatment in Panic Attack Sufferers.
