View Full Version : Stupid Vet
so took my cat for her vaccinations today.
the young vet was busy so i was seen by the old guy instead.
when he injected my cat there was air in the syringe.
i know its very bad to inject someone like that cause then an air bubble goes into the blood stream and it can cause you to die.
now I'm so freaked out and panicked over my cat.
doesn't help that my cousins are here and I can't stand stand anyone around me when I'm worried like this................

How do you know there was air in the syringe ?
I am pretty sure that it would kill you instantly if there was.
oh I was watching him as I was holding my cat.
I think it only kills you if you put it directly into the veins or blood vessels.
so because the injection was just under the skin she should be ok.
but i know it can enter the lungs and cause respiratory distress so i look out for any breathing problems.
I have calmed down a good bit and hoping i wouldn't get that vet next time, he is just too old and not good with small animals.
the 24 hour vet is 40 minutes away and i don't have a car so hopefully she'll be ok.
just had a cat before that died durning the night and i get very paranoid about my cat now getting sick.
oh i saw the air in syringe because the liquid was on top of the air so to speak.
i used to have to give injections to my old cat so I know when there is air n the syringe lol
Sure it is only when the air is injected into the veins and causes an air bubble it is dangerous. An injection into the muscle is fine. As he was an older vet I guess he has done it thousands of times and is unlikey to have made a mistake as basic as that. I have animals and know how worried we get about them but really your cat will be fine, I'm sure. XX

I know this from doing my Vet course last year.
The only way an air embolus this small would kill the cat this way is if the vet accidentally injected it into an artery, which is not at all the same as injecting into a vein.
Air bubbled in syringes are only deadly in intravenous injections.
So I wouldnt worry at all.
