View Full Version : cattery?
ok I will have to leave my cat in a cattery tomorrow for a few days.
I'm worried she's be all frightened and i feel guilty for leaving her.
she's only ever spent 2 nights alone in my house! I have her a year.
I don't have a choice so she will have to go. I know the lady who runs the cattery so I know my cat will be looked after. I just don't like stressing my poor baby out.
so can you please tell me how your cats got on in the cattery so i wont feel to bad about leaving my cat.
thanks x
it may be good though cause if she gets on good then I can leave her for the few days I will be in Scotland and wont need to worry about her!
PLEASE REPLY BEFORE 4PM TOMORROW! thanks x x x
Hi:)
We all feel guilty when we leave our pets:hugs:
I have only put my cats in a cattery a few times and my mate owned it!!!
However when I got my black lab dog one August I had to kennel him in Sept(aged 12 weeks) and he was fine.....dont think he wanted to come home:whistles:
So you go away and Im sure puss will be just fine:yesyes:
Hope this helps

aw thanks again for your reply.
see i was taking her to the vet yesterday...... but well yeah I ended up not been able to take her.
so I'm gonna take her first thing in the morning, she's been very tired all the time and keeps sitting on my lap which she never ever does.
she may end up on antibiotics which mean I won't be able to send her to the cattery and means I'll have to stay home with her.
which because of everything that happened to night and how I had planned on staying with my grandmother,
so If i do end up staying at home a lot of people will be mad ............
I will always put my cat first but I'm hoping she won't have a temperature and I'll be able to put her in the cattery.
ooo everythings so complicated.
First let me say - I admire your strength during this stressful time. I am so impressed by your concern for you baby. I 've read some of your posts about what is going on right now in your life and I think you are a true angel. Your baby is lucky to have someone like you to care for her. I wish there was something I could do to help you-I'd offer you (and your baby) a room here but I'm in Canada!
I've left my baby at a cattery and the people there were great. They were used to dealing with people like me -stressed over "abandoning' my baby. I felt awful at the time because it was at Christmas and I felt like she wouldn't be with her family ( her family is just me and a tiny little dog)for the holiday. The cattery people gave me their toll-free telephone hotline(call from anywhere in North America for free) and told me to call as many times as I wanted ! It has also been pointed out to me that maybe my kitty-cat wanted a break from me !!
I am sure the people at the cattery will be able to soothe your feelings and make you feel better about leaving your baby.
You could always request an opportunity for calling (as needed) for updates- although this may add to your stree - it helped mine knowing that I could call anytime.
I hope you baby is healthy and feeling better and you're able to leave in the comfort of the cattery.

It's only natural to worry about your pets, I'm exactly the same and drive my OH crazy with my worries about them.
Hope you manage to get her to the vets tomorrow and she gets on OK. If you are unable to put her in a cattery I'm sure your family would understand that you were unable to leave because of her, I'd hope they wouldn't expect you to leave the poor puss alone when she is sick.
If she is fine and is able to go in I'd maybe leave a t-shirt with your scent on it (maybe something you slept in) to help settle and comfort her and her favourite toy so she feels right at home. The people who run catteries are used to dealing with pets missing their owners and will take excellent care of her I'm sure. She'll have a fab time and most likely will not want to come back.
