I only wish that my doctor would have put me on these (or something like them) when my problems first started 12 years ago. Then maybe my marriage wouldn't be in the mess it's in which brought my depression to a head. The hard part now is telling my friends and family about it.
I noticed on my packet that it advises not to take Ibuprofen...my doctor actually told me to take Ibuprofen for a throat infection but when i mentioned the advice on the packet he looked it up and it apparently increases the risk of a stomach bleed - just thought you should know that it's only really paracetamol you can safely take
Re: Citalopram side effects?
hi all
ive been on these for 2 weeks now (10mg) and i'm still not feeling any better, should i stick with the 10mg or increase to 20mg? i dont want the same side effects again as i've got this week off work but cant take anymore time off after that!
Re: Citalopram side effects?
Hey..
i take 40 mg of Citalopram daily for severe health anxiety and i find that the worst side effects are Headaches and absolute, awful fatigue, i dont know if this has been mentioned but i began taking them in the evening so i woke up refreshed ready for the day ahead.. it can help, especially if you have trouble sleeping with anxiety x x x x x
Re: Citalopram side effects?
They do work, i spent about a week not being able to sleep AT ALL!
Felt really down and sicky, they didn't start making me feel normal (normal?) for about a 8 weeks, then i felt good.
However...
I am coming off them now and i feel terrible.... really bad side effects.

Re: Citalopram side effects?
I have been on citalopram for three days on a 20mg dose. The main issue is an inability to sleep and my head feels really heavy like I have done drugs like cannabis. I already feel less anxious which is good but my head is foggy. I hope with time this improves, I will keep everyone posted on this.
Re: Citalopram side effects?
Been on it for three days and feel tired but cannot sleep, bleeding from my bowels, nose bleeds, feel dizzy but less anxious, not sure side effects worth it but will see how it goes, I am on 20mg, feel like I have been well drugged up, x
Re: Citalopram side effects?
Hi evryone i am new here.
I like many of you searched the internet for answers, Hope, and some sense of been the typical quote "normal".
It was good to see all of you saying how i felt from time to times.
I notice alot of you have only just started or are on low doses to start you off. I hope you don't mind but i thought i would tell you my story on them as someone who is on a high dose and has been on them for four months. :D
I like all of you was giving the tablet and i am not going to lie the first week was god awfull and i just wanted to die. I would throw up everyday over worry and fear..that's why i am on them for anxiety. I enjoyed just sleeping and watching mind numbing telly anything to take my mind of my troubles.
I felt great for two weeks then down really really down.
My doctor told me this happens with this tablet a sense of feeling good then a relapse it's just your body enjoying it but then telling you actualy you need more. This happened to me right up till i got put up to 40mg..A month on and i havent had "the fall" and thats brilliant news for me i found my stop point. I never thought i would start to feel better.
It's very hard to forget how bad you where at the start and you do everyday wake up thinking is this going to be a good day? And you do have bad days you do but look back and remember you aint on the toliet throwing up you aint sweating to death.
I still grind my teeth,Having "spaced out" moments..(something my family call going into emily land!) and feel worry everyday but i am still getting there it's not a fast thing.I mean this is silly but it's a example
the other day i bought a top for twenty pound coz i shown the same top with a cheaper price tag on when i knew fine well it was a higher price i felt so so bad and ended up ringing to offer the extra money! stupid i know but thats the illness for you! But without the tablets i wonder how bad i would of been.Proberly shaking and throwing up and crying..
And i now been asked to have congitive thearpy aswell this is something i am not relaxed with but taking that first tablet i felt the same. But i am going to do it. I will keep you all posted.
Please let me know if this has helped anyone i would ike to hope so :D:hugs:
Re: Citalopram side effects?
yeah that was helpful - its always helpful to know youre not the only one going through something.
Ive been on citalopram since monday and today has been my worst day - Ive literally spent the whole day sleeping, and i cant seem to do much else. ive got a constant headache and dry mouth, and im drinking loads of water but nothing seems to help. Im really worried because i cant get any work done and i have so much due in so soon.
does anyone know any ways to combat these side effects? thanks
Re: Citalopram side effects?
Well i suggest just try and eat i know sometimes this is hard to with thease tablets but they really help your mood. As for the dry mouth i found this only lasted the first few weeks and the sleeping! so on my experiences they will fade. I say if your worried about getting work done if you can maybe see your doctor for a temp sick note or something. But it will get better this wont last forever you should feel better soon. It's hard i know.
my symtoms where dry mouth grinding teethe yawning loads funny thoughts feeling crazy constant twitching and bad headaches.
I hope you start to feel better soon.
Eating is the best thing to do and try and take your tablets around the same time of the day i think routine with this tablet helps
:hugs:
