I have started to recover from my depression and anxiety. When I started writing this guide I was in a very bad situation. Most of what is in the guide was learned the hard way. Reading it reminds me of my darker days and that can be a bit harrowing for me, so it is very difficult for me to update the guide at this moment in time.
When I feel a bit stronger I will come back to update it. Hopefully other people will continue to find hope from it.

I've updated this thread with very important information about inositol and various depression-busting supplements. I have been taking inositol for 3 days now (1.9g on Friday and 2.4g Saturday and Sunday).

Hi, thanks you two, I am glad I stuck with citalopram cos it was tough for me (although it isn't tough for everyone) and my condition has been improving steadily.
I cannot over-emphasise the "stay social" advice, as this is the main thing that has helped me. Being around other people and talking about my problems made more difference than medication ever could -- the meds do help though and I am happy to stick with them. We need every weapon in the war against depression and citalopram is my smart bomb.

Hope you are well, have you started your therapy yet?
I had my first last week, got my second one on monday. My first session, I think I built myself up too much and I was quite anxious throughout, but the session did go well as we touched on thought processes and we concentrated on what I had been talking about and what my behaviours to each were like, i.e constructive or destructive. The more time I have spent reflecting after the session the more I have been able to analyse my thoughts in a more rational manner and I can see the benefits. Bring on the second sesssion, it can only get better.
By the way, your quotes have given me inspiration to get up and keep on trying by keeping hope that there is a better life. Keep up the survival guide its proper good stuff!

Thanks for your posts - they are really comforting. Psychopoet - you have really got me through the last few weeks. Everyone around me has been great but unless you have been through it - it is hard to understand.
I begin week 6 tomorrow - I am still getting headaches but the early side effects seem to be fading. I feel so much better than I did and can definitely see light at the end of the tunnel.

Just to give you a bit of comfort, I had the really bad headaches and bad sleep for about 4 days on week 6, I guess this is more proof that the medication is taking grip and doing its business.

I haven't slept properly for ages - even before the meds but the mind chatter has stopped now so I can just go back to sleep - the mornings are still a bit rough but the anxiety and butterflies are easing.
