Re: Citalopram survival guide
Hi everyone, thanks for the reassurance, I am glad you find the Guide helpful. I feel like I went through hell with my anxiety and depression and this Guide was partly written to keep me focused on my recovery. It worked for me, so hopefully it will work for you too.
Re: Citalopram survival guide
Bump! I spent eight weeks of my life writing this lot, it WILL help people, I am determined!! :D
If this has helped you even in the slightest, PLEASE post about it here. I say this not for my ego but so that fellow citalopram people (what is the term for someone taking this stuff? Shall we use "shiny happy people" and find humour in the irony?) can see that there IS hope, this stuff DOES make a difference for people and there IS a poin to sticking with it even when the storm clouds seem to draw in!
Re: Citalopram survival guide
Poet - When are your posts being written about what you mentioned earlier about writing and getting it off your chest? Will it be before midnight or after? lol
Re: Citalopram survival guide
I've updated my depression thread with my latest insights (or ramblings, depending on your opinion of them) but I'm going to save the heavy stuff for tomorrow cos I have been feeling good all day and I don't want to put a Mars bar in the swimming pool.
Re: Citalopram survival guide
Updated with information about gingko (effective against citalopram side effects) and a revised intro.
Re: Citalopram survival guide
Excellent Post. Everything in this post I can relete too. I have been on 20mg of citalopram for six months for depression and anxiety.I had all the various side effects too. Most went away but I still had to put up with a stuffy nose ( like I had the flu) lack of sex drive , ringing in the ears ,mild nausea and headaces. But it did kick my depression and anxiety completly. I felt it was time to go off them and dropped down to 10mg for 5 weeks. I then dropped down to 5mg for 3 days.I have now been totally off them for 11 days and I have the odd day when I get little bouts of anxiety and lows but these dont seem to last very long. I also have been getting headaches off and on , tiredness and vivid dreams at night as well as a little nausea and mild brain zaps. The stuffy nose is disappearing and my sex drive is starting to come back.I am feeling more and more like myself everyday , but I am just riding through the withdrawal side effects. Everyday seems to get a little better. The side effects are very similar to when I first started taking citalopram. My body now has to re adjust to not having it anymore and Im expecting things to really improve over the next three weeks. I will keep you posted with my progress.:D:D
Cheers John1

Re: Citalopram survival guide
Hi everyone, thanks for the advice :D
I am keen to know what people think of taking vitamin supplements and the other stuff mentioned in the guide. Has anyone benefitted from taking cod liver oil, magnesium, inositol etc?
I strongly recommend inositol to anyone suffering anxiety or depression. It helped me a lot and I feel worse now that I have run out of it.

Re: Citalopram survival guide
Added information on St John's Wort and included a further recommendation that sufferers of anxiety and depression try taking the inositol supplement.
I did not find St John's Wort helpful. By contrast, I believe inositol is the best thing to combat anxiety and I rate it more highly than citalopram.
