Re: Inositol ??
Hi Carter. Not sure. Psychopoet seems to be the expert on this so why dont you have a read of his posts or maybe he will read this and let you know. Good luck.

Re: Inositol ??
Hi, yes inositol is safe to take with antidepressants according to medical research.
Comparing the effectiveness of an SSRI to inositol is like comparing a boy racer's Vauxhall Corsa to a Honda NSX.
Within 2 days of taking 4g of inositol, my depression, nervousness and anxiety start to disappear. In fact I think some of the negative feelings are actually being caused by the citalopram.

Re: Inositol ??

Re: Inositol ??
Hi Physcopoet.
I have been taking inositol and I do believe it is helping but I am still having a lot of anxiety. About 7 on a scale of one to 10. Before I started taking Inositol it was way off the scale and I was having quite horrendous panic attacks also.
I am now taking 4gs 3 times a day. Do you think I am taking to much or do you think I need to give it a little longer at this dose for it to take effect?
I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks Erin

Re: Inositol ??
Where can you get it from ?

Re: Inositol ??
Hi Sarah Jayne.
I buy mine in powder form from Holland and Barrett.
It is their own make.
It is vitimin B8 so you may find it in vitimin B complexes but obvously it may not be in the correct dose you require.
I should think most pharmacies should sell it.
If you do try it please let us know how you get on.
:hugs:

Re: Inositol ??
Inositol on its own is not a cure. You must try other self-help therapies as well. Finding a medication or supplement that can eradicate depression and clinical anxiety is beyond our technology, for now.
You can try increasing the dose but be careful not to make too big a jump as it can cause you to need the toilet.
I'm going to write a full rundown on inositol tomorrow and ask one of the mods to sticky it. For the time being check my citalopram survival guide. There's a lot of information about inositol in there.

Re: Inositol ??
Does anyone find this has a laxative effect?!
I have been taking it for a couple of months now. I buy the powder from swanson's and was intending to take about 12 grams a day. However, any more than 3 grams and I get an upset tummy! I do still take it in 3 grams a day, but am not convinced it is helping me.

Re: Inositol ??
Hi
I have taken Insitol and found it didn't work for me and it made my stomach feel 'off', but Citalopram has worked & all side effects gone.
Everyone is different in their experiences of medications and remedies.
Citalopram has given me a life back and I am due to start my new job tomorrow. My anxiety has gone 99.9% and I feel so much happier.

Re: Inositol ??
I found inositol had a laxative effect with me to begin with but I was taking quite a large dose, 12g a day. This also gave me a very nervous tum. I have cut down to 8g and the laxative effect has stopped but I don't feel it is doing anything for me at this dose or maybe the effects have just worn off.
:hugs:

Re: Inositol ??
Hi, excuse my butting in here as I haven't posted on this forum for ages.
I've just started taking Inositol partly to help me to sleep, but I'm interested by all I've read about helping depression. I'd appreciate some guidance as to what dose is best though ?
I'm currently taking lofepramine (a tricyclic) for depression (I cannot take SSRI's).
My Inositol pack (from My Protein) says "750mg 1 to 3 times per day". I don't know how to measure that out exactly !

Re: Inositol ??
Sorry I've just spotted the guide to Inositol, I'll read that and no doubt get the answer I was looking for !

Re: Inositol ??
Yep, there's as much useful information in my Inositol guide as you'll find anywhere else and there is the benefit that I actually take inositol, unlike anyone who writes "official" articles for health websites.
