long term cipralex - blip
Hi All,
I'm looking for positive stories of long-term cipralex/escitalopram/lexapro use and blips. I'm in the midst of a tough blip right now and am worrying that my meds have stopped working. I'm only on 10mg for 5 years and have upped to 12.5 just 4 days ago. Seeing doctor today who, as in the past, will say raise to 15mg if needed. I've never had to do that in the past - 12.5 mg has always worked to tame the blips but this one is a doozy.
Anyone else been on meds for this long and dealt with blips by upping dosage? I'm looking forward to feeling well again as I have for so long. It seems I have a blip at least once a year but other than that, I feel awesome.
Anyone?
thanks so much - and reminder... only positive feedback, please.
Jmac
Re: long term cipralex - blip
hello, although i have not been on escitalopram long term (it's only approx 5 weeks for me), i think if i was in your shoes, i would give the blip you mention around 3 weeks to see if it goes away by itself and if not, i wouldn't be afraid to go to 15mg because i dont believe that would be classed as an overly high dose

Hi
I don't know your age but it's best to keep your dose as low as you can if possible.
10 to 20 mgs is safe until the age of 60-65 then it has to be reduced to 10 mgs. to be safe.
Take care.

Thanks so much for the feedback. Still under 60 for a Hadfield of years yet! I upped to 15 6 days ago and finally today am feeling some relief. All good from here on!

Um... That would be a handful of years.
