scared of having cancer after blood test showed low white blood cells

Hi everyone, i thought i was doing ok with my anxiety lately but now its come bk with a bang, ive been ill with varios symptoms for a year now, recently ive lost lots of weight, had stomach problems and been aching all over. My doctor was concerned with my weight loss so did some blood tests last week. They have all come back ok except for my white blood count, its low. Stupid me went and googled it and now im convinced i have cancer, im so scared, ive got to go bk in a month to have the test re done and if its still low hes going to investigate it further. Has anyone else been through this ?

Hi Sarah, I had a low white cell last year and so did my son some time ago. Mine turned out to be down to an ear infection, your white cells are low when your body is fighting infection so I was told at the time. Try not to worry it may be a stomach bug if you have stomach ache.

yes if you have an infection your white blood cells work harder ,you wont have cancer ,my dughters were very low for about 6 weeks she had a tum infection now its gone there normal,it is more importent not to be high

dont be too worried please sarah jayne my mum had really low white blood cells, they did test and the reason was just that she is black im not joking apparently black people have a different range of lower blood count than other races.

i was convinced it was cancer she was not worried at all...........my point is there are so many benign reasons its ridiculous and cancer is like sooooooooooooooooooooooooo unlikely.

Thankyou everyone, i wish i could stop worrying. Everytime my anxiety seems to be improving something else always happens, i am so sick of being ill :(

that's the problem with this no sooner do we get rid of one worry than another comes along ,,its as thou we are not meant to feel 100%it gets us all down ,,

yes all we can do is work with it we cant beat it so we have toface it haed on what you think:)

I’ve had the exact same thing. Blood test showed a low white blood count. The test is being repeated on 22 January. I’m trying to put it out of my mind. Keep me posted how you get on. I’m sure you will be fine x
