Starting dose of 100mg Sertraline - is that right?
Hi all,
Has anyone else been prescribed a starting dose of 100mg?
It wasn't until I'd gotten home from the doctors and taken one that I saw that the usual starting dose is 50mg.
I'm hoping that the doctor hasn't made a mistake....the meds hit me like a tonne of bricks last night.
I've previously taken Citalopram 30mg, but that was about 3 years ago. Weaned myself off the meds when I had my little boy, but desperately need help again, as I'm not coping with everyday life, especially at work.

I started at 100mg but reduced to 50mg for a week and then added the additional 50mg. At 100mg the side effects can be a bit much. If you don't notice major side effects at that dose, then you should be fine.

I started on 25 for a week then went to 50.
Been on 50 for about 3 yrs and it works fine at that dosage.
As everyone is different you may find that you need more but I'd definately start off lower than 100.
