Would an eye test show up a brain tumour?
I am convinced I have one.
I had an eye test a few days ago and she said all was fine except from I had staining on eyes when she put the dye in,she sent me to get drops saying it could be dry eyes but I'm so worried....She wants me to go back to check n a weeks time
I have so many symptoms af a tumour/aneurism :(

Hunny
You would know if you had a brain tumour as you would be in incredible pain and unable to function properly!
What symptoms do you have?
Re: HELP brain tumour/eye test
Hello Hunny,
If you had a tumour, which could be detected by an eye test, there would be an abnormal build up of pressure behind the eye, and the optician would have referred you on to a neurologist to have further tests as a matter of urgency. I think the dye stained more than usual on your eyes because as she said the eyes could have been dry, and any thing dry tends to absorb liquid a patchy way. Don't worry, because the optician would have definitely. referred you on to a specialist if there was any hint of conern.:hugs:
Re: HELP brain tumour/eye test
Hi
I have
Ear pressure /pain
Funny vision in one eye
Feelings of hot and cold water in head
Feel very unsteady and tried the marching on the spot for 30 secs with eyes shut and was all over the place
VERY tired and spaced out
NO concentration at all
Numbness in face as if I've been to the dentist
Headaches on the same side which feel hot and sore scalp :(
Sore and very stiff neck/arm
These are all in right side
Has been going on for ages but has become very acute
No Drs appointments for almost 2 weeks!
Dr 2 weeks ago says ear imbalance ad left me to it , he didnt even examine me apart from to say I was very unsteady :(
Re: HELP brain tumour/eye test
I have a left frontal parafalcine tumour which was found by accident. I have no headaches or fits or limb weaknesses at the moment so I am on the watch and wait programme. I had my eyes tested a few months ago and I told her about the tumour and she checked my field of vision which was OK at the time. Each year, about 4,300 people in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumour which isn't a lot when you think there is over 60,975,000 people in the UK so please don't worry.
Re: HELP brain tumour/eye test
Hi Hunny,
Really sorry you have all these symptoms, which must be so worrying for you. I am absolutely certain though the optician is not conerned about anything picked up in your eye test - she would want to see you again to see if your eyes are still looking dry - there are drops to alleviate that problem.
It will be a good thing for you to get to see the doctor again, so you can go through all the symptoms which are worrying you, and so you feel they are taken seriously and can be investigated properly. Pity you have to wait two weeks. It really is horrible having these concerns, as a sufferer myself, I know how difficult it is to let go of them, and to accept that so many symptoms are anxiety related. It is difficult to be comforted when we are so worried - but I do hope you will be feeling less anxious soon.:hugs:

Hi Trixie
I remember you saying about your tumour before , glad you are not feeling the effects(hope this comes across the way I intend)
Was the optician able to see the tumour?
I'm so frustrated with waiting and its making me so ill generally
I'm trying to go along the sinus/bad neck route but finding it more and more difficult..
I really appreciate all your replies ty

Re: HELP brain tumour/eye test
Opticians can't see tumours so to speak what happens is that some of their tests will be abnormal due to a buid up of pressure in the head affecting the optic nerve. Hence one of the tests can be a field of vision test as any pressure on the optic nerve would reduce your field of vision etc etc.
If you have had an eye test and everything was okay apart from dry eyes which is nothing to do with your brain! then it is very unlikely you have a brain tumour. You do not have any of the red flag symptoms that would make a Dr send you for more investigations such as an mri brain scan.
I have known a couple of people with brain tumours and they both experienced fits and had other very serious and obvious neuro symptoms that got them rushed into hospital.

No the optician could not see my tumour (which is just over 1 inch big) it was found during a MRI I had for terrible tinnitus ( no connection). I have to just plod on and wait. They won't remove it until I get symptoms as as you can imagine operating on the brain brings it's own problems.
