What have you done today to make you feel proud??
Reading the Forum recently I have noticed it is complete doom and gloom, No one seems to be happy at all, I know it is the nature of Anxiety and panic that it is going to be a hard slog and that all you think of is the worst case scenario BUT I think to go forward you have to look at the positives in your life.
I have recently been going through a really bad patch and believe me I couldn’t see a way forward and was really negative all the time and it took others to tell me that there has to be something positive I had done during the day….. A success.
So I started writing three successes down from my day so I could see that it wasn’t all negative during my day as I thought it was.
The dictionary definition of success is ………The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted
I have found out, there is no right or wrong definition of how big that achievement has to be. We all know how hard doing basic things with anxiety and panic disorder can be, even the simplest things can seem like trying to climb Mount Everest.
It took a good friend to remind me that when you are in such a way that you just cannot see any successes there is ALWAYS something that could be classed a success.
At that time my 3 successes were as simple as
1. Getting out of bed
2. Having a wash
3. Getting dressed
I guess what I am trying to say is in amongst the doom and gloom there is ALWAYS something for you to be positive about ALWAYS something to make you feel proud that you have achieved.
So this thread is for people to write their three positives for the day down to basically make you think that you have done something positive during your day and it hasn’t all been negative at all.
So what have you done today to make yourself feel proud??

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??
I actually woke up and got out of bed before 10am today, thanks to my hubby. Managed to sort out my ottoman and box of receipts and contracts, less to do when we move.
Although not today I've managed to get back into the swing of novel writing. I went through a period of hiatus which began to really get me down, but I seem to have broken out of the writer's block.

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??
Drove a 3-hour round-trip 2visit my brother & his family.
Had a good time while we were there (just got on with it instead of getting nervous).
When we went out to eat, I went to the bar to order the food on my own (often I let my partner do it so I don't have to worry about it).
Let my brother/sister-in-law hug/kiss me (a big deal for me letting people do this).
Great thread Emmz :-)

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??
Yesterday I blitzed the flat then my husband and I walked into town. Had a lovely time, sorted our insurances out and ended up buying five books between us! I managed to write 1000 words for my novel before his brother came over.
Today I've felt naff all day. I tried to pick myself up by doing the ironing, washing, gardening (which killed me) and some relaxation. Despite the lovely weather and active housework I feel low still.

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??
magic, I don't know why it is always so hard for us to do chores or little tasks especially for ourselves.
but when we are able to do that..... it is most definitely something to be proud of. not only have we achieved something but we had to batter down our negative thoughts to do so.
I try to remember that often the little things I manage to do (even including something like taking a bath) are all an important part of keeping on going when it would be so easy just to "not do it this time". so, sometimes I would indeed put "taking a bath" as being an achievement. even putting something away I have just used could be on my list. in point of fact, I had a little tidy up in our study today. it looks much better than it did this morning, much better.

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??
This is an amazing post that more people need to see. It's similar to making a list of things we are grateful for or nourished by (something I have been trying to do daily)..
Today I walked to work (40 minutes in the snow)
I had an inspiring phone call with a listener (radio)
Did an interview with a comedian with a smile on my face

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??
I managed to take my car through a car wash today! This is the first time since I was very young and I went through one with my dad. I have avoided them since I developed anxiety but this morning I felt different and I did it!! Not particularly enjoyable but I will definitely do it again.

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??
I was assertive!
Someone I like had asked me to do a favour but then I ended up leaving work late & knew I had a busy evening to get ready for a work trip tomorrow.
So I said to them that I could do the favour.
I didn't let myself feel guilty or that I was letting them down.
As it is... They didn't mind at all.

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??
1. Am working on the "ump-teenth" load of "sick kid" laundry. This includes the upholstery from pretty much every piece of furniture and decorative pillow in our living room, multiple sets of sheets, and every towel in the house. Not to mention numerous sets of pjs, etc. (And this isn't due to me being germ-phobic. This is due to the monstrosity of having two sick little monkeys at the same time.)
2.) I have not (yet) backed out of any of my social commitments through the weekend. I want to very, very badly as I am in a bad blip (or BLAM as I call a blip this severe), and I can feel the "safety net" of staying in my living room starting to creep over me….., but I KNOW that is a dangerous thing to start doing, so I am fighting to carry on as usual.
3.) I didn't beg my husband to not go out on the road for work today. He had to leave early this morning and won't be home until late tonight. Ironically, he also has to travel the highway on which my baby brother had his head on, highway collision three years ago TODAY. But, I swallowed that big lump in my throat, and stayed home with the sick babies by myself and didn't let myself go down the irrational thinking pattern concerning his traveling. (It hasn't been pretty around here today, but we're all still alive, and I have refrained from selling either child to gypsies.)
Just looking over this…..oh, please, God,…could I be starting to come out of this terrible relapse just a bit?
Thanks for the thread!
