Thanks for all the reassurance guys (and girls too LOL!!). It's nice to know you're not alone sometimes. I wouldn't wish this on anyone - it can really play with your head and emotional well being. I'll just go along one day at a time and perhaps one day I'll wake up and not think about it at all (unlike now where I wake up and think - hmm I feel good so far..... almost like I'm waiting for it to come on). Your support feels like some Vicks on my throat - nice and soothing...:)

I am currently convinced that I have something nasty as my throat has felt bad -sore and as if there's a lump there - for weeks. The feeling extends up into my ears at times, like burning. It also makes me feel quite breathless - is this the same thing?

Uh yes, Hello to all i am new to the forum as my name and info says.
I was searching about Globus hystericus, basically because i was telling a friend that i have it and i came by this forum and this topic. So i thought i'd put a comment on here too.
I'm 17 years old and for 9 years i have had globus, mild at the beginning and getting steadily worse as time goes on, though it's stayed the same for about 3 yrs now. I know there is no drug related treatment, only reasurrance and sheer determination, its just, i don't know.

hiya,
i suffered with this quiet badley too. the more i thought about it the worse it felt. i was told it was down to my anxiety. however things came to a head in feb. i had bad tonsillities, and began coughing up blood. as u can imagine i panicked big time convincing myself i had cancer.
i ended up in hospital on the ssu and was diagnoised with acid reflux.
since being on meds for this i must say i haven't felt the lump in my throat much.
i tend to only become aware of it now if i have a major panic or anxiety attack.
i also found out that this lump in your throat feeling is also a symptom of acid reflux, as well as anxiety.
wasn't i the lucky one to get a double dose?
all the best to u

I am exactly the same as pinkpenny. Acid reflux can give the sensation of a lump in the throat but mine has even spread to making my tongue ache. Scary at times but I am living with it. If they say its not cancer then I have to believe that! Try and ignore it. It may go away or you may just get used to it. I know it doesnt seem likely at the moment but that is possible.

i do try to ignore, though now it is disrupting my A-level classes and my learning, so i may try new methods to combat it.

Hi all. I have been reading through this trail and desipte all the probelms everyone is having, it makes me feel better that perhaps I am not alone. (if that makes sense). For bout the past 6 weeks, I have been having the same feeling that I have a lump in the side of my throat. Been to the Dr. several times, and to the ENT twice, and on the 2nd visit he did the scope through the nose and down the throat. All was clear from what he saw. On one of my blood tests, my Dr. noticed I was slightly hypothroid, so he put me on synthroid. (Think I had a few side effects from that but..) My lump and complaint that I could feel a lump, have a tightness of the throat, ie, it felt like I was being choked slightly led me back to the Dr. I suggested that he request an ultrasound of my thyroid. He di, and they found a nodule approx. 1cm. So from there I went to the Endocrinologist, where she felt my throat, said the thyroid did not feel swollen, and she could not feel the nodule. She said, that because of the size of the nodule, they would not normally do a FNA on it. (She also said, if it was cancerous, you would look sick).. hmmm ever think of early symptoms??? Any way, she new I was still concerned with her comments, so she has booked me a CT Scan in dec.
Sorry for the long post... but reading much of what you folks are writing, I (barring any other medical issues) I seem to perhaps fall into the same category.
My feeling seems to get worse off an on. Just recently noticed that it seems a little worse, (more swelling) after I eat.. to that not I just took some tums.. and it actually felt a little better...
I have been trying to make sure that I manage my stress better, (hmm but that really stresses me out).. Anyway, thanks for reading the bablings of this Canadian Guy.
Cheers and I look forward to reading your input.
