    Medication for missed beats?

    Hi,

At present I am taking propranolol for missed beats but it is not helping at all to lessen/stop them ( I get missed beats for most/a lot of the day and some nights).

On Friday I have a hospital appointment so I will ask if I can try some different medication.

My question is:- what type of medication do other people take that has been good at stopping missed beats?

    Thank you

Not much help but I take propranolol for mine, It does lessen them but doesn't stop them altogether, I'm not sure what other medication you can take but i hope you find one to help.

I'm the same as nanny, I'm also on propranolol and while it reduces the missed beats it doesn't take them away completely, but I have to say, compared with how I was before, the missed beats are much more bearable. Propranolol comes in different guises and mine are also called Half Inderal and I take 80mg slow release capsules once a day. It could depend on the dose you take or if you take any other meds alongside of it.

After a long time of putting up with ectopics (PVCs) I was prescribed Bisoprolol (2.5mg) by my cardiologist.
Perhaps take a look at my thread 'Bisoprolol for ectopics'. It will tell you my experiences of it so far.
    Seems to work for me
    All the best,

    Hi,

Thank you for all your replies

Nattyone: I have read your thread and I think my experience of ectopics is quite similar to yours.
First went to hospital for all the tests in 2009 (had missed beats then but not on a regular basis)
Since March 2010 started with missed beats every day (somedays only a few, somedays for a few hours)
Since September seem to have got worse lasting for alot of the day and sometimes at night

I wll ask cardiologist tomorrow if I can try some different meds. and see what happens.

    Thanks.
