Ive been told by a doctor you cant become immune to an anti-depressent but i found with my seroxat i needed a higher dose the second time i started taking it for it to work. I have heard of people saying their anti-depressent just seemed to stop working, but i dont know what the situation was and how common this is, a doctor though would say no that dosent happen. Ask yours next time you are in there. Sorry if this isnt much help, but id be interested to see what other people say. c xxx
PS I have been told that alcohol does make anti depressents less effective and any side effects or symtoms worse, so best avoided!!! (booooo! lol!)

    Hi,
My doc told me last week that he wants me to stay on citalopram for good after 2 badly failed attempts at coming off them, he has assured me that they don't become less effective and are perfectly safe for long term use!
    Hope this helps!

I have a friend who has been on Citalopram for 4 years - no problems - similar issues when he tries to come off

Thanks for all your comments.. I have been to the doctors (yesterday) and he assured me that long term use does not make them less effective..
