Breast discharge

I am 51 and i have noticed a small clear discharge from my right nipple i had a clear breast screen a month ago so i am now worried as to what it could be

Clear discharge is usually nothing to worry about .It can be caused by antidepressant medication and contraceptive meds ,It comes from the milk ducts surrrounding the nipple .Even tho you have had a clear mammogram ,it shoukd be tested as you may need antibiotics .They will also test to see if it has microscopic blood traces .Doesnt sound like its anything to worry about tho .Hope this reasures you .All the best Sue x

Hi,
I had to go to the breast clinic late last year as I had discharge from my left nipple and also had a lump too. I was teriified but the lump turned out to be fatty tissue and the discharge was nothing. The specialist said it is quite common to get discharge and unless it is bloody you should'nt worry. I still get it occasionally now.

Even though it sounds from the other posters that it is nothing to worry about, medical advice is always to get any discharge checked out by your doc.

Well, if it were me I would want it checked out even if it was just for a qualified doctor to tell me that it was fine - so I would make an appointment for peace of mind.
