Long term HA sufferer with kidney worries!!

Hi everyone. I know first hand how all-consuming health anxiety can be. I have found forums like this to be a great source of reassurance when doctors and family aren't around or just don't understand ...

    I little about me ...

    Gender: male
    Age: 27
    Height: 6ft
    Weight: 12.5 stone (80 kg)

Below is a recent history of my symptoms:

I noticed foamy urine and mild occasional left flank pain around two years ago.

    First doctor visit:

I was given antibiotics for a suspected kidney infection although urine dipstick test was negative. doctor said to take the antibiotics anyway as apparently infections don't always show on urine test. Symptoms persisted.

    Second doctor visit

I was sent for an ultrasound scan of the kidneys and the doctor also ran blood and urine tests. All three came back as normal. Symptoms persisted.

    Third doctor visit:

I explained that my symptoms were persisting and I was worried. I was refereed to a renal specialist. The specialist tested urine, bloods and also did a physical exam for swellings etc. All normal except blood pressure was a little high (I blamed white coat syndrome and it eventually dropped). He couldn't understand why I had foamy urine as no protein was present on his tests. Symptoms persisted.

    Fourth doctor visit:

I had further blood and urine tests which all came back as normal. I was told to stop worrying about it and move on.

Today, I still have mild foamy urine and occasional mild left back pain. I notice if I drink a lot of water the foamy urine goes away.

Another doctor I spoke to over the internet said I need to check Microalbumin levels as this may not have been tested before and could show early signs of Kidney Disease. Has anyone heard of this test?

This is becoming preoccupying. I feel brushed off by the doctors and very confused.

It's worth noting that I can be a worrier and tend to have health scares / obsessive thoughts. Over the last 10 years I have genuinely believed I have Testicular cancer (three scans), MS, Motor Neuron disease (Stephen Hawkins suffers from this), diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer of the lymph nodes and kidney disease.

Has anyone else experienced these symptoms or can anyone offer me some advice???

    Many Thanks in advance,

    Simon #worried

    Hi
we are not doctors on here, and i doubt you can be reassured unless you go to gp and ask for this test on microalbumin level...
As you have said yourself, over 10yrs youve imagined all sort of illnesses, and yet you are still here, so didnt have them after all!
I appreciate HA must be awful., but you need to get some help with your obsession over your health, not just help and tests for illnesses you think you may have....
Your GP should be offering some form of counselling to help with the HA side...
