    zopiclone and sleep apnea?

ive just been prescibed zopiclone but am now a little worried as apparently can be dangerous in sleep apnea which i was diagnosed years ago with....at the time i was mildly apnea and classed as borderline..they ummed and ahhed about whether to give me a cpap machine and did but cudnt use it...
i have since been re tested and await results but in desp need of good nights sleep...i have also lost 4 stone so feel it may be cured??
i am wondering if i should take half of the 7.5 mg of zopiclone??
need good sleep tonight as im climbing the walls on citalopram which ive been on just over 3 weeks and having trouble sleeping the last few nights?
anyone got some advice or words of reassurance?
    thnks suzee x

I can't help with the sleep apnea and whether this is safe to take, but I can say that I was prescribed 3.75mg Zopliclone tablets to help my sleep while on Citalopram with instructions to take one or two tablets. I only ever took one tablet - which would be equivalent to you breaking one of yours in half - and it was enough to get me to sleep. So if you do try it, maybe try half a tablet and see if that helps?

What I found with this medication is it did not make me drowsy - it just made me fall asleep very quickly once I'd put my head down. So maybe you won't feel tired, but can still drop off OK.

That's a shame to hear that it didn't have much effect :( Was your sleep OK before the Citalopram? If so the hope would be it will return to normal once you've settled on it.
