valium? Benzo's? Anti aniety drugs?

Hi all,
Just wondering how many are on valium or a benzo for anxiety and how much per day or when?

Possibly for how long too?

I am on valium when needed. I dont like to say that I am as so many are against it but I dont know the real reason apart from the addiction potential (like alcohol).

I know someone who is on 50mg per day so dont be ashamed. If it helps, it helps I think although not the first choice.

Hi Chop,

I'm on a benzo for anxiety called klonopin. I take 1 mg a day cut into .25 mgs taken every 4 hours. This is considered a small dose. I've been on it for maybe a year. So far, no signs of wanting more or any addiction problems. I don't know how long my doctor plans on me being on it and I know all the others who say only be on it for as little a time as possible, but for me it helps so much and for me that is enough.

I'm on 10mg/day of Antenex (generic Valium) Have been for 3 yrs. Apparently the max recommended dose is 40 mg.
My doc doesn't mind giving it to me cause she knows I use it responsibly.

I was on valium a week ago and feeling better. The doctor told me not to take it for more than 2 weeks, so off I came. Now I am feeling awful again.

Hi Chop,

Personally I don't have a problem with taking valium on really bad days, and my doc says there's no reason I should get addicted if I take one 5mg once or twice a month. Have you heard of Buspirone? It's an attractive alternative to valium as it's non-addictive, doesn't have the withdrawal symptoms and doesn't make you feel so zombified!! It takes about four-six weeks before it really kicks in but I felt some relief immediately. You can take between 10 and 30 mg a day.

I've been taking Buspirone over the last 5 days along with Cymbalta, and have notice a huge difference I take 1x3 daily and what a difference it is making. I am worried about taking medication and trying to come off it, but as my doc says I need it just now so I have to take it, and when you are at rock bottom you'll do anything to help!
