    Butterflies

I watched a program last night about the history of TV comedy and sitcoms.
One that has made me think is "Butterflies" with Wendy Craig, 1978

A sitcom that many women could relate to, the BBC were cautious of the implication that a woman could have thoughts of another man, other than her husband.
Men were wary of it because they wondered if their wives had those thoughts. These comments are from the program not mine..... my cop-out clause lol

Personally I can relate to her arkwardness and unsettled feelings ..... maybe the cooking side too lol

    What does the Team think?

Good morning Dave, I was only very young when Butterflies was on but remember watching it with my parents, so I didn't really understand what was going on but now I can very much relate to Wendy Craigs feelings.

    Morning Dave
Yep I well remember that tv prog - especially the one where she made gravy and she asked her boys "one lump or two..."
A bit like my cooking!!! it always used to make me laugh and I honestly think sometimes us women worry about not being perfect which, lets face it, none of us are!!!

    Hiya guys,

I can definitely relate to the cooking part lol!

Personally I think lots of women can relate to the programme and find themselves a bit 'lost' and caught up in their role as a wife/mother and forget about themselves as a person in their own right....I think its even more relevant now as women try to juggle husbands and family with a demanding job (probably the same for many husbands and fathers too?....though personally mine doesnt have a problem fitting in 'me time' for his golf etc lol!).

So I think probably its more about having someone recognise and appreciate the person you are rather than the roles you play as wife (husband)/mother (father)/employee etc

Sorry...dont know if any of that makes sense (but I know what I mean lol).

    Coni X
