Nails scaring me.

I have a few ridges in my nails which I discussed with the doctor. He said they were normal and showed me his nails which also had ridges. My mind was at ease after this.
However I have white horizontal lines (1 on each nail) at the tips that go from side to side. They are really scaring me and I have googled them, which I swore I would not do again! ans they can be all sorts of hideous reasons for them. Does anyone have these?

I know this was an old post, but I searched nails and wanted to try to offer some reassurance. Although hopefully by now it's old news

I first noticed this a while ago (at the time I was convinced I had HIV). Googled and of course panicked.

Since then, they've smoothed out and then come back. I'm not worried about HIV any more, and am not going to look into it further. It could be anxiety. At least two doctors have looked at them and not been worried. I also check others' nails and do notice horizontal ridges pretty often, especially on thumbs.
