Drove home from work tonight in major floods in the dark. Some parts of the road were completely submerged and the water sprayed up over the roof of my car. For previously having panic attacks while driving anywhere, this is a pretty big achievement for me! I squealed and screamed and told my self over and over that I can do it, even when my car almost conked out in the middle of a flood, but I did it and I'm so proud!

Well done, Kimberley. I heard on the radio that you have two severe flood warnings in your county for today so stay safe.

Thanks Terry. I've been posting about it in my other thread, it's unbelievable how bad it got last night and today.

Haven't been having the best day as far as anxiety goes. However, made myself shower and go to a couple shops just to get out of the house. Bought myself some new jogging pants that were on sale. I felt kind of awkward in my old pair. I didn't feel very attractive. I know that's not the point of jogging, and not why I do it, but it does help feeling good about how you look when you exercise. If it's not raining too much, I'm going jogging tomorrow. Hoorah!

Yeah, not everyone is like Rocky with the holes in the old sweats. If it helps you to feel more confident with it, why not?

Just the small things are better than staying in bed or sitting unable to find a reason to move. Early on in depression they tell you to add in 2 things at a time, even, even just small things. It builds routine and after a while you are doing a lot more without needing to invest as much of your head into making the effort.

Well done! It's not easy when the meds are kicking you.

Thanks, Terry ! How often are you supposed to add two things into your routine? Every day or every week? That's a good idea, as just sitting around does make me feel worse and gives me too much time to dwell on things.

Something I've done today to make me feel proud... kept my focus at work, despite being so sleepy outside of work, and still have left an argument unresolved with a friend since Sunday night. I feel like I'm making waves at my new job.

I'm proud of myself because I don't have anyone else who is going to be proud of me. Not for the little things.

I'm proud that although I didn't get round to writing up my receipts for my tax return, I did manage to get together some of my online receipts, and to fix the spreadsheet which had a glitch in it. It was a minor achievement to fix that - it's been going wrong for months, so now it's finally solved it's one less daily annoyance.

Re: What have you done today to make you feel proud??

This wasn't today but it was all of this week, excluding today that I am proud of. A lot of you will know my stepdad takes mini strokes a lot, well earlier on this weak he took his first full blown stroke. Its left him paralysed and weak down his left side and he is shuffling when he walks. As it went, it could have been a lot worse but we were told to expect further strokes and no more mini ones, or TIAs. Usually when he would go into hospital, I would just drive my mum up to hospital and wait in the car for her as I was too panicky to go in but this time he was transferred into a bigger hospital, many miles away from our home and I went in every single day and this hospital is massive with long corridors and he was right in the heart of the hospital so that meant passing through so many long corridors which is scary when you are agoraphobic, seeing lots of patients, going on lifts etc and I done it all with no panics at all. I had to be there for him and my mum, that is what got me through it. It was also good practice for when my papa goes in for his kidney transplant which could be any day now and for that, I'll have to head up to an even bigger and further away hospital.
