Don't know who else to ask please help!! Desperate!!

I stepped on something in my backyard about 4 hours ago. It went into my third toe, it was very tiny and very painful. I pulled it out with tweezers and put hydrogen peroxide on it. Now my toe is red and swollen. My husband and I aren't sure what it was. It is 12 am here so I can't get into a dr, should I do to the ER? I'm so nervous! Why would my toe be swollen and red?
