Hmmm, Stearate isn't likely to make you feel any better or help you sleep at all.

Magnesium BiGlycinate is easiest to get at H&B. They do several types, so look at the ingredients. These are in 30s @ 150mg. Pick up a tub of Taurine as well.

    Hey law,

What about tart cherry supplements? Some seem to report it helps sleep.

    Some info:

I tried the magnesium from holland and barrett (biglycinate) and passion flower on its own

I felt the effects of the passionflower but it was not positive I had blurred vision and felt completely out of it but did not sleep at all

I felt no effect from the magnesium

I am back to lemon balm capsules now which does seem to work for me and doesn't seem to leave any negative effects come the morning.

Thanks again for your reply Terry, I haven't tried that, I'm going to stick with lemon balm for now but will add that to the backup list! Also I have been refered to a cfs centre exercise programs targeted at cfs are something they offer as mentioned in one of your previous posts so I'm hopeful that will help

No worries Law, I just spotted it as I was looking for something for my sciatica and there seems to be a lot about Montmorency cherries as they contain melatonin in. I have been reading some of the reviews for products on Amazon and some do mention a better quality of sleep, so if it helps its worth a mention.

Thats great about the exercise. These guys are going to be more specialised so its going to be someone you can talk to about the challenges who has more time. Hope it helps you!

Just browsing the list of things people have tried for anxiety and poor sleep and would like to add that GABA and Phenibut are helpful and don't appear to have been mentioned here.

GABA is an interesting one because it allegedly does not cross the blood brain barrier but it definately has a strong calming affect and enables me to turn my mind off at night and relax.

Phenibut is expensive and tricky to get hold of and I've only tried it once recently but it really calmed me and made me sleep at night. I'm reserving it for special occasions rather than constant use. They have used Phenibut in Russia quite widely for a variety of psychological conditions - you can read up on it of course. I think it's worth a try and GABA too.

Lemon Balm Tea works good enough that I grow it. It is a mint. Growing valerian too.

GABA was banned at the same time as GHB as it became part of the kneejerk reaction by the government of the time to the date rape trend.

Its not recorded on the Misuse of Drugs Regulations schedules so I'm not sure at this stage whether it is classed the same as GHB. If it is, its illegal to possess as well as import. If its not then I would suspect it to be a Part II substance which means it is legal to possess but still not legal to import as thats classed as "trafficking" which allows Customs to invoke their separate act of seizure and then prosecution under trafficking if they wish to.

Since GABA is a Prescription Only Medicine (POM) in the UK, it is also covered the Medicines Act. There is some information online from the MHRA in a forum showing they are not interested in personal use volumes unless it is countefeit but its aged so its unclear what they stance is on this. However, Customs can still take their own action.

There are websites aimed at selling to the UK but they will be licenced to export in their own countries and unless its in the Convention on Psychotropic Substances (if they are members of the United Nations), they will be fine doing that as long as local law allows for it.

Having said that, it was only banned due to the bad press over GHB and it is available as an OTC in the US. The fact the US are fine with it being on a supermarket shelf tells me its very safe and I remember all the kneejerk actions the government took to ban substances because of date rape and the athletics scandals which saw DHEA get banned for no reason as well (another one OTC in the US!).
