    Calming techniques

Hi, this is my first post. I have had anxiety for around 11 years and have taken sertraline in the past which I found worked for me. Recently my anxiety has returned as always I think its worse than ever which I know it won't be. I have started on sertraline again and been on them for 2 weeks but as of yet they haven't kicked in. Does anybody have any techniques to help them relax?

    Thanks

    Hi and welcome to NMP

Look up Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) for muscle tension, Calming Technique (also know as 7:11 breathing, I think) for breathing exercises and go with Mindfulness which takes a lot longer to work but its relaxing as you learn it and it is far more powerful than other techniques because it addresses your subconscious as well.

Thank you for the advice. I am glad I found this forum. Even though I have suffered for around 11 years, this forum has tought me a lot about anxiety over the past few days
