    Sick Sinus Syndrome worries

    Hello everyone,

A while ago I was given a 72 hr holter monitor which even though I felt pauses and thuds only recorded normal sinus rhythm. (diagnosed with ectopic heartbeats in 2004 and been obsessesd with my heart rhythm ever since)
Lately, I've been getting quite long pauses....usually when trying to sleep...and in the pause I feel a strong head rush, like I'm falling or moving. This has scared me enough that I dread going to bed and I'm suffering from insomnia as a result. I get worked up that I might stop breathing or that my heart might stop altogether. I then panic about falling asleep, but equally panic about not sleeping. It's truly awful!
Obviously I have self diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome! Is this something that can come on suddenly or would that have shown in the 72 hour test?
Many thanks for a great site that helps when things go backwards for me.
    Wishing you all well,
    Paul

It's really hard to say. Sick Sinus Syndrome and lots of other conditions have overlapping symptoms and can appear quickly or slowly.

I'd guess trying to get a recording of your heart when you feel this would be ideal.
