I've just been watching the Rebel Billionairre with Richard Branson and he challenged himself to face one of his biggest (irrational- his words) fears...bungee jumping. He said that he has no fear about sky diving, but that bungee jumping terrifies him.
When it came to it it took him about three attempts to finally do it and he admitted that his legs had gone to jelly. The point though is that he did it and came up smiling and saying how brilliant it is.
I guess that the 'secret' to beating anxiety and phobias really is just to face it. I am trying to do it myself and I'm realising that things are nowhere near as hard as I think that they're going to be....I want to feel that I can actually turn it round more though and feel relief and excitement from overcoming my fears.
Ships in harbour are safe..but that's not what ships were built for.
