I have learned that I am MUCH more rational when I am giving advice to someone else, however when it comes to myself rationality is out the window.
I once feared that I had a brain tumour because I missed my period, logical? No.
But it was very real to both me and doctor google at the time! haha
So next time you are about to panic, pretend that your friend texted you and said....
" Hey Lilly,
I haven't gotten my period.... DO I HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR?"
What would you say?
To my friend I would say,
"Hey Jade,
Firstly, how late is your period? Secondly, have you been under stress? Thirdly,
you do not have blurred vision/cognitive problems ect.
You are fine, this is highly unlikely! "
My example is of health anxiety, because I clearly have health anxiety. However,
this advice can extend to other anxieties, for example social anxiety:
"Hi Lilly,
If I go to this bar I am going to have a panic attack and completely lose my mind, I will embarrass myself..."
To a friend I would say...
"Hi Jade,
What proof do you have that this will happen? Have you lost your mind previously? If you start feeling down you always have the opportunity to leave."
I hope this helps!
All the best my leetle worry warts
Lilly
