    Thumbs down CA-125

I'm pooping myself. I just come back from the doctors after explaining that i'd got several "ladies" problems and that i'd been having these symptoms for many months and now i'm being sent off to have a CA-125 - a blood test for ovarian cancer.

    Suppose its better to know.

Panic attacks started in 1992. 1998 i became agoraphobic which lead into being room bound. Couldn't even get upstairs. 2002 i started getting better, able to drive and work. 2005 i became house bound again. 2009 i have been making SLOW progress, still not able to go anywhere alone, but my journeys are getting longer. No where near 'normal' but at least i can go out.

    Hello Sarah !
Don't panic - these days its routine to do this simple and cheap blood test along with the usual smear and examination. Your doctor knows how worried you are and this will quickly and completely put your mind at rest.

    Hi Sarah,

Please don't panic. They do these tests to rule things out. Imagine a huge check list of all the things it could be from worst to best. They will be working down this list until they find out what's causing it. It's just a quick and easy test - nice and cheap for the NHS (far cheaper than scans and so on). It's a process of elimination. Your doctor is not thinking the worst.

    Best of luck
    xx
