So it's hot here and the jerry can was swollen from the tempature and when I opened it the smell was so strong i think inhaled some am I okay?

Yeah, you will be fine. It's people using inhalation to get high that are the worry and they do it closely and for a time.
If there was any danger from what you experienced, the most dangerous job around would be working in a petrol station. And we all smell the stuff there.
