Hi,

I am looking for positive or negative experiences of this drug. All answers gratefully received!!

Hi Happyone,

I haven't taken Lithium myself but my granny who passed away last year took it for the past ten years of her life. It's one of the oldest treatments and although an anti-psychotic, is also used for depression. There isn't a standard dosage-I believe you have to have monthly blood tests to monitor the levels in your blood, as of course, lithium is a salt. It worked very well for gran who'd previously had several stays in psychiatric units, keeping her calm and happy. The only side effect she experienced was that it made her hands shake, but then again, she was 95. A good site for patient reviews of meds is askapatient.com.
