I'm only on day 2 of my citalopram 10mg. I feel very anxious and tense and I feel scared.
Should I wait it out and suffer through it or will I get withdrawal if I stop at this early stage?

Smarties - I started on 10mg and most of the "make you feel worse" side effects subsided by the end of the 1st week and things got better by the 2nd week.
Since you've already taken the med, it'll be in your system for ~1 week after the last time you took the med. There is no way to know if, how long, or what type of withdrawals you'll have as everyone reacts differently.
Epitaxial, thanks for your reply, I am planning to speak to my doctor about it tomorrow. I wonder what the shortest amount of time you can take citalopram for before quitting cold turkey without side effects.
These medicines are not a over night fix.you will feel worst before you get better as in months not days or weeks.what you are feeling is normal..millions of people feel the same symptoms you are feeling..took me eight months to feel better ..
Hi, I do understand they take minimum 2 months to take positive effect but they are making me feel significantly worse, almost unbearable level of anxiety at times. This is why I am considering stopping as I’m only a few days in anyway
That's the way this Medication works ..ask your DC.for zanex or diazapam..for those yucky anxiety moments.
I lasted 3 days and stopped today after speaking with my doctor. I really felt very bad and did not want to mask the symptoms with diazepam.
Are you going to try another AD? SSRIs all have slightly different side effect profiles so another shot at it might be worthwhile. Did your GP/doc not mention another AD? If SSRIs don't agree with you, there are other options with a different class of AD - eg, mirtazapine, trazodone, lofepramine.

Never Surrender, Comrade
I'd rather not go back on anything, I'm too scared to at the moment. I have a (private) psychotherapist I've been seeing regularly so will discuss it with him to decide what's best. For now I am just focussing on my breathing and trying to make it through this difficult phase.
Good luck smarties. Hopefully you find something to help with your anxiety!
