Hiya All
Does anyone have any tips for grounding yourself when you have DP/DR?
I have a mantra of "It is just a feeling, you are safe, you are fine" but sometimes that just doesn't cut it.
so wondering if anyone has any tips?
Thanks,
Emmz xxx

Emmz try headspace, there are a number of exercises so one may work for you
Also look into tapping
I have found that finding something I believe in is the secret, once I believe that something works, it usually does.
If all else fails JFDI lol

I know you JFDI yesterday and you should be very proud of that.
Remember though that it takes time to recover from making the effort.
After the effort you put in yesterday it is no surprise that you are wiped out today.
But you did it yesterday and you can do it again

Stamp your feet on the spot.
Twang your wrist with an elastic band.
Tell yourself it is just a feeling and it will soon pass.
Circle the inner of your palms.

Hi , I go out and feel things around me , sounds daft just writing it out now , I go for walk and take some time to feel and see what's going on around me , feel the wind on your face and stop and listen to the birds , I also touch branches and leaves , being at home in cosy box with all the electrical things going on tv , Internet does pull you away from reality, I've just walked my dogs in the wind, rain , cold and dark ( in my pj's ) that soon wakes you up from that dream like state .
Well as I said sounds a little barmy but then if the cap fits , and you know the more you think about it the more you feed it .
Take care
thank you
I have had a bath which has helped and now sat watching tv and chilling.
I am always sat twiddling elastic bands and pinging them if I am feeling crappy.
I think today is just a come down after yesterday. but no idea if that means I should push myself more so everyday is as busy as yesterday OR take it easy and do bits at a time.
Tomorrow is another day

When this happens the centre of attention is usually in the head, so move attention slowly to upper abdomen area. Focus on that area in your mind, as if you're looking out from the mid-point. It will give you a strong sense of stability and balance, although it does take some practice.

My therapist words of a balanced day.
Work, play, challenge, treat!
I also used to carry a sprig of lavender and sniff when anxious.
And I always carry my bottle of water.
