change of meds

having been banging on for ages about changing my med duloxetine well today its happened and i have taken my first venlafaxine and i;m really worried. the usual stuff, what if it doesnt work, wot if it makes me worse as has happened before on other meds.

isnt this anxiety stupid

Joy, I think you have taken the hardest step, now try to take one day at a time. I really hope it works for you, surely there is a pill out there for all of us ?

Joy, I too am just in the process of changing..... in my case on my 3rd type of SSSRI. I know how worried you are because we dont know how we will react to the drug and what if any side effects they will have....... BUT, what if this one is THE one which changes your life around? Wouldnt that be great?! As mirry says there must be one for all of us somewhere. My advice is to trust your doctor, work with him/her to find the right solution. Hey whats th worst can happen, these dont work then we try again! remember any ill effects you may experience are normally down to short term side effects as your body gets used to the drug...... i like to think of it as its the side effects which PROVE the drug is taking effect! If we remain realistic about what these symptoms really are (just side effects which are short term) then we shouldnt be too concerned right? Thats what I reassure myself with anyhow! Hey, we wouldnt be here if we didnt get anxious and worried about these things..... its the nature of the baest!!

Yes thats just it, one minute you are saying I aint taking any more meds but then you think maybe just maybe the next one will work

My trouble is (as previous posts have said) Seroxat worked fine for years until I foolishly came off it and nothing has worked since.

Took my first venlafaxine last night and waited for the sky to fall in but actually it didnt. Felt a bit jittery today but no worse than i often am

Hi Joy, I too have just changed my medication to venlafaxine. Been on them for a week now. Havent felt great but my sky hasnt fallen in, so far so good. Good luck

Its so scarey changing drugs and wandering whether this one will work for me this time or will I end up having to try another.

Maz. what meds were you on before and what dosage of venlafaxine are you on?The doc wanted me to try 75mg for 4 days then up to 150mg which seems very quick to increase so I'm not sure what to do as its four days now!!!
