this anxiety/depresion is taking over any advice?

HI everyone ive been suffering for about ten yrs now the docs said it was depression and gave me seroxat which made me sort of happy and high as a kite! but after a year or so back to worse again.

In recent years its been more of a spaced out constant worry which seems to get worse and worse as time goes by i worry about holidays goin to work even leaving the house sometimes and when i wake up ive got that nervousnes in my stomach like when your goin to get strapped at school (if anyone can remember getting strapped!) any help or advice would be greatl greatly appreciated.

I dont really want to go back on medication if i can help it.

    All the very best .

    Hi Tony

    Welcome to the site.

Have a look at the first steps page at: http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/firststeps.htm There's lots of useful information there.

I get nervous feeling on a morning too, although not so much lately. But I do know that it isn't very nice, I barely have an appetite until mid afternoon.

If you could find a relaxation technique that you like, then that would be a good start. It will help bring the general levels of anxiety down and maybe relieve some of the constant worry and that morning awfulness.

I'm sure you'll find lots of help here though.

    Hi Tony,

Seroxat was never going to cure you - its job is to mask the symptoms whilst you're on it.

You sound like you would benefit from some CBT - see the home pages.

Nervousness and stress is normal for every person- however when it starts to control you and gets out of all perspective then it turns into an emotional issue such as generalized anxiety disorder.

You may find that your rational thinking processes are all out of perspective. CBT will help address this without needing any meds.

Eating regularly is essential . The first meal is the most vital .Just have a banana if you really cannot face anything else.
