    Scarey Movies

Ever since i started having panic attacks 2 months ago, i find myself becoming startled really easily of scarey movies /tv shows.

Also if there is a noise, like someone drops a pen, i get startled.

    Is this normal?

yes, very. one of the discriptions i have heard of someone with panic attacks is that your fight or flight reactions are hyper sensitive. you are constantly expecting attack so any startling noise will set you off. try not to worry it can and will pass

    Hi there

    WELCOME TO THE SITE

Yes, hun, this is normal, you will find that your anxiety levels are a little high at the mo, so any little noise or horror movies, you will over react too.

When I was acute I was like this all the time, I know for me, at that time, I did stop watching scary movies, I told myself, just for now, just untill I can find out more about what I was dealing with, learn more about panic and anxiety.

Because the flight, fight response had been triggered, you are more sensitive, you notice things more, you will over react to things. Your mind thinks its in danger, so you look for it, feel it. I know its dame hard for you right now, but you have to try and reasure yourself. Ues, self talk, tell yourself, I am fine, I will be ok, its only, a pen, its only a movie, its only a tv show. I promise you, it will pass.

When I was acute, I jumped at everything, doorbell ringing, phon, ringing, even if someone looked at me funny, ohh boy, panic, anxiety is strange.

Hun, have you looked around the site, read first steps, there is some great information on this great site.
