hugs and advice needed please

sorry if you have read my story before about returning to work this thursday after being off sick for 5 weeks but i could really do with some support please.
I am so scared and when i tell people they say i cant understand what your scared of ! please tell me you understand i am so anxious i am just thinking of handing my notice in and not bothering to go back that way then i wont have to put myself through all the anxiety and worry i have had sooo many sleepless nights .

I was off work for quite a while and it was a struggle to get back but once you get into it I found that the distraction was better for me than being off.

Remember the feeling is just that -a feeling - I keep telling myself the same thing. It's the fight or flight mechanism on overdrive!

We will get through it!!!

Hi, the best advice i can give you is to relax. And just gradually expose your self to more and more situations. Pace yourself don't push it. Positive thinking, turn a negative to a positive

Hi Gill.

So many of us will completely understand how you are feeling. I was off work for a year and going back was one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced. That was 2 years ago now and I've been working full time ever since

JFDI is a good one. As someone else said, don't push yourself too much but please don't jack it all in either. You will get there.

I'll give you a poem:

Don't Quit

"When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

I know it's cheesy but I used to recite that in my head when I was having a tough day and work, and it really kept me motivated to carry on.

JFDI = Just F***ing Do It!

Please believe me when I say I know how hard it is. You may panic, but the most important thing is to keep telling yourself (and believing) that it really doesn't matter. Sit through the panic, let it wash over you and it will be gone before you know it. Don't try to fight it - the calmer you are, the quicker it will pass off.
