How do people find out what condom size they need?

I’m getting married in feb and I’m worried about the wedding night, it will be my first time being with a woman, because my culture doesn’t allow girlfriends or sex after marriage.

Anyway, I brought some durex original condoms today because I never wore one in my life, I didn’t know what size I needed, my penis ain’t that big and got the one that says close fit, I assume that means small, anyway I tried it and it felt uncomfortable, it felt tight, hard to get it over the head of the penis, and it had no lube on it, is that normal? I always thought it would be slippery? There was more condom left to unroll but I don’t have enough penis lol. It felt hard to take off too, so I had to wait for my penis to soften before I could

Do all first timers go through this or am I being dumb?

I googled what happens if a condom is too tight and it said

Condoms that are too tight can choke off blood supply, which contributes to erectile dysfunction.

It's worth remembering that your penis is powered 100% by blood flow, so clamping down too much on it can cut down on the amount of blood going in and thus make it hard to maintain an erection.
