Fluoxetine increase how long to take effect?

My fluoxetine has been increased from 10mg to 20mg. Has anyone noticed how long it takes to start feeling the benefits? 😒

Several weeks, unfortunately. Fluoxetine has a very long half-life. Up to 6 days for fluoxetine itself and up to 16 days for its active metabolite, norfluoxetine, which actually does most of the work. So it takes a while for it to become effective. On the plus side this means withdrawal symptoms are usually mild and take weeks to develop. This is why you continued to feel okay for 6/7 weeks after dropping the dose.
