tommorow I am having treatment

Hi everyone , Im getting myself a little worked up about going to hospital tomorrow to have treatment for my inner ear.
They say I have crystals that need to be put into the ear canal where they belong , cos at the moment they are floating about outside the canal.
This is causing me terrible dizziness.
They told me they will throw me about in certain positions to get the crystals to move.

Cant beleive how nervous i feel about this , Ive been dizzy 6 years now and was told it was my anxiety , so this means alot to me , it might help me, or it might not work. I also have MAV silent migraine which causes dizziness.

Im so fed up with it all and dont want to be too hopefull but it means so much.........has anyone else had it done ? and did it work for them ?

Hi Mirry,

I think you're referring to the Epley manoeuvre. I haven't had it done myself but I did look into it as I had BPPV last year - just turned my head round sharply to look at the cat behind my chair and the next thing I knew, the room was spinning!

However, I did see this treatment done on a programme on the telly just the other day. They don't throw you about, it's not as rough as that! The lady was moved through various positions, which were held for a minute or two, but none of them were unnatural. Combinations of sitting/lying with head turned one way or the other. Apparently it works really well and just one treatment can do the trick.

It's a bit like one of those old maze games with ball bearings in. You have to move the thing around to guide the balls down the right channel.

Try not to worry and let us know how you get on. Hopefully, you'll be much better afterwards.

Hi Mirry,
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had with your ear. If I sleep on my back at night then I wake up and everything spins for about 5 minutes, it's horrible and I'm so sorry that you've had to put up with it for 6 years.
As nervous as you may be about this treatment, I'm sure it is worth it. Just think of how great you will feel if it works, and you will never have to worry about it again.

Hi Mirry,

I haven't had this problem but I did have ear syringing done last year.The Doctor and his staff were first class.They took their time and explained everything before they did it.The procedure was much less traumatic than I had expected.
I am sure you will be well looked after.
