    ALCOHOL AND MEDS

    Hi everyone,
Just a question about whether I'm ok to drink on my meds or not? I'm on propanolol and citalopram.
I don't mean get really drunk or anything, just let my hair down and have a few glasses of wine.
I'm not a big drinker anyway, but being unable to have it makes me miss it a lot! It's my cousins wedding day too on friday, and I'm already thinking of leaving early so I won't be the boring sober one in the corner!! HeeHee!
I just wondered why they advise not to drink on both of these medications? Would it affect how well the drugs work?

    Shelley.

    Hi Shelley
Usually the leaflets in the packets tell you whether you can or can't drink. I know when i was on medication once i went out and had a drink and i turned into a right nasty b*$@h so obviously affected me.
If it doesn't say on those leaflets, might be worth having a chat with the pharmacist in your local chemist they should be able to help.
    Hope you enjoy the wedding.
    Take care

It won't affect how the meds work but it might affect how you feel. It can leave you very anxious the next day .

If you do drink remember the water and banana last thing.

I think it entirely depends on the individual. Try having one drink to see how you feel and jugde from there..
