    what is thought stopping/swapping

    Just wondering does anyone knowwhat thought stopping and thought swapping are. i can sort of guess, Ive been reading the symptoms page on this site and it says itsgood for dr/ds sufferers which i am.

    Thought switching can be very effective. How the mind works is that the intelligent part does the thinking, and the primitive part acts on it. So if you are thinking that you are going to panic, the primitive part will then start the process going by setting off the physical changes. The intelligence part then senses the bodily changes and believes it's to late to stop the panic. So a vicious cycle starts, ending in a panic attack. The idea behind thought switching is to break the cycle by occupying the intelligent part of the brain so starving the primitive part of a reason to panic.
    I used to use it all the time when I suffered from panic.
