Phych stopped all my meds cold turkey

    Hi all!
I had been on Citalopram of 7 or 8 months and high dose beta blockers. My GP put me on these meds. After a horrible panic attack that required the crisis response team I ended up on a Phych ward for two days. The Specialist told me to stop taking all my tablets in one go. No reduction. And I have never been as bad sinced I stopped these meds. The Dr thinks that the side effects of being on the meds are causing me more damage.

So confused by this. Since I was told to stop the tablets I have been off work now for 5 weeks. Symptoms are unbelievable. Awful dreams, suicidual thought, insomnia, nausea, terrible aggressive mood swings.

Has anybody else gone cold turkey as such?

    Thanks

I stopped taking lorazepam cold turkey and it was horrendous. I ended up having a grand mal fit and was put back on them.

What about going back to see your doctor and explaining that you feel so ill and have not been able to work. This is serious and you dr needs to give you something to help you in your withdrawal from these meds.
