    Question Hard to urinate etc

    (Male 27yrs)
For a while now had symtons of IBS mainly the bloated stomach and wind/burping, sometimes can eat a small amount and feel bloated other times lots and feel so say normal what it used to be like! and few weeks ago saw doc and he wasnt to helpful really just said more fibre and gave me 'colofac' which doesnt seem to help, with this i also get feeling of never being completely empty after urinating and going to proper toilet, had these symptons for a few years now and it came on gradually.

More recntly im finding days where i struggle to urinate having to force it out even when im full and even then never feel empty can often go again 5 mins after! also get feeling in lower abdomen of like wanting to go but i dont need to really and everything in bladder area feels full and bloated so much so i dont like sitting up properly, none of this is painful and i havent passed any blood i can see and its more of a discomfort really!

I just know that it never used to be like this!

Going to docs next week what am i best of saying?

    Thanks

    Richard.

Sounds like cystitus to me - I might be wrong but I think men can get it. I would take a sample along to the doctors for him to test if I were you because they can do it there and then. Sometimes there will be blood in the sample but you won't see it, and they might send some off to the hospital but don't panic because I have had this and also my young daughter had some sent off to the hospital but it was fine.

hi you are best saying what youve just written there i am also suffering similar probs at the mo. my anxiety has only affected my stomach in the last 10 years to make me have really loose stools other than that all was fine. however i had a miscarriage in july and since then my stomach has been chronic, pains, feelings of things moving inside, massive bloating and change in stools, also ive been weeing loads ans loads - but then again i always pee alot, as drink lots and also anx can make you pee more. but if you are worried jus ttell the doc your symptoms. i was also prescribed colofac but i didnt take them, which im glad now youve said they dont help.

the things im going to try to help myself are

fibre everyday, i prefer 2 shredded wheat
    5 portions fruit & veg a day
    meditation
    exercise
    supplements
and cut out caffeine and crap from diet - but struggle with this one as crave junk food in run up to my period otherwise i will jus ttry to ignore it and hope it goes away

I dont think its cystitus asi dont get any like pain when it actually comes out, its just getting it out!
A few year bk i had a test i think for chalmidya but result was inconclusive said the receptionist and since then not gone bk to ask why! are any of my sypmtons likely to be that?

Another thing when i go to loo properly i can never urinate much, which means i have to either stand up once finished or come bk 5 mins late to urinate!

I am trying to do the more fibre thing to and that means breakfast every day etc!!

    Thanks

I know at only 27 this may sound silly to you but believe me it's not.

My hubby at around your age suffered the same thing, got sent to a specialist and found he had prostrate trouble, this isn't always in older men.
He was too young for an op as it would affect our sex life so he was on tablets years untill the age of 54 he went and had an op.

Now i'm not saying this is YOUR problem but it is worth mentioning to dr just to be on the safe side.

Thanks i did think could be something to do with it but like you said thought to young really, my Dad is near 60 and he suffers from taking for ever to go a wee and struggling with getting it out!

Did he have same bloated symptons or was it just the urinating ones?

Will tell doc my syptons and ask him about that!

Its like now i dont really want to go can tell im not full at all but got like a full feeling in my lower abdomen that feels like pressure there as if wanting to go!!

    Thanks

    Hi lee

Yes he did have that bloated feeling, always felt he wanted to go to wee but never felt empty afterwards.
He had a lot of infections with it too.

It is worth mentioning to doc honestly, if he says no then thats put your mind at rest on that score.

Good luck and let me know how you get on

    Hi there
The problem could be an enlarged prostate.Your Doc will be able to confirm this and refer you to your local Urology dept for further tests / treatment .
I speak from very recent personal experience and am starting medication to overcome the problem
    Best of luck

I agree with others that it is best to speak to your doctor about this as there are a number of conditions it could be.

I'm female but I had a similar problem last year which turned out to be narrowing of the urethra and I had to undergo an operation to have it stretched.

However, I also know anxiety, cystitis and in males prostate problems can cause difficulties. I hope you get it sorted.

Fibre wise - those Fibregel sachets are good.
