    Citalopram and sleep...

I don't tend to sleep very well anyway, but since beginning to take 20mg of Citalopram I've found that I'm just never tired. My body feels knackered, tired and achy, but my mind is just so wide awake. Even sometimes when I'm really tired but my mind is active, my eyes still start closing, but that doesn't even happen now.

I just feel so weird because I go to bed at 3am at the earliest, get up between 9 and 10, have a full day of doing uni work and going places, and then am still not tired by 3am! I'm sure I should be tired?!

Anyone else had this? I don't know whether it's the meds or something else?!

    Hi

It may not be the meds at all hun. Perhaps you dont need so much sleep or you got a lot on your mind from UNI. i myself sleep very well on Citalopram.

    Best regards

Ahh, I had a look through the old posts, there are quite a few mentioning citalopram and no sleep. Feel more relieved now. Havent had more than 6 hours sleep a night on this!

I've lived in halls before and it was fine. My block is a study block, everyone is usually asleep by about 12 and theres me lying awake for hours! It's not just that I can't sleep, I feel wide awake as well. Well sort of wide awake, but my body is knackered. I want to sleep but my brain is all awake. I used to go to sleep around 12ish before taking citalopram and now it's 3am at the earliest and I'm always up and awake around 9!! Arghh

I have problems sleeping, but still not sure if it is because of Citalopran. But I do feel tired and yawning all the time. When I go to bed, I fall asleep straight away, but wake up at stupid o'clock in the morning. And yes, its normally about 5/6 hours sleep.

Aw that's awful. I take ages to fall asleep and wake up several times in the night. I'm tempted to have a little nap now but I'm worried I won't be able to sleep later if I do :S

    Re: Citalopram and sleep...

I have recently started Citalopram (taken 3 weeks worth so far)
at 20mg. To start with my sleep was fine but for the last 4-5
days I have been having trouble getting off to sleep.

I dont know if it is the medication or the fact that for most of
the early part of the day and the afternoon I am fighting a
running battle with stress. Often my body feels like there is hot
fluid flowing through it and combined with my lack of appetite
and not drinking as much it has really taken its toll on me.

    Mike.
