    doctor for ectopic beats

Hi everyone. This is my first time here and I'm so glad I found this website. I found it because I've been experiencing what I think are ectopic heartbeats (something I never knew existed) that really have me worried. I've been avoiding going to the doctor but decided I better to rule out any major problem. My huge worry is that she will tell me my heart has suffered major damage and I have six months to live to something horrific like that. I'm really scared and hope someone can make me feel better. I've only really been noticing these beats for the last couple of weeks but I seem to have them every day and sometimes they seem to go on and on for a few minutes.

    hi alley
it does sound like missed heartbeats, a classic anxiety symptom and a very common amongst most of us here me included, they are not dangerous in any way and on the the home page under symptoms meg has done a great write up about it about how it all works like little drums that keep on beating. do go to the doctor just for reassurence, i was exactly the same i was scared he was going to tell me something bad but was a relief to know they are in no way dangerous but it does sound like anxiety its all to do with nerves and exersise and calmness can abolish them. hope this helps

IS THERE ANYMORE I CAN DO????
    ectopic heart beats

I don't expect you've done any harm at all but do go and get a baseline ECG done and discuss it with your doctor.

    hi Alley,

    Welcome aboard!!

Ectopic heartbeats are very common amongst anxiety sufferers and can NOT hurt you at all. Do you suffer from anxiety? Seeing your doctor is a good idea though as it will make you relax about it a bit..

Hi Alley - I think my first post was on ectopic beats too. Its what brought me to the site (knew it was anxiety deep down).

Welcome to the site and I hope you get the reassurance you need.

    Hi Alley,
    I'm another sufferer.

You have been given some good advice already, so I can't really add much more, just take care.

Hello....I am new to this and have just been looking up stuff on the net about ectopic heartbeats. I have been suffering them for about two weeks now and actually have taken myself twice toi the hospital. I had an a heart enzyme test and that was normal, i also had a stress test on the treadmill and that was normal too but it did show my irreegular heartbeats, the dr said that it was normal. I have these all the time, like they never stop and sometimes i can have like 15 in a minute. Is this amount normal. I can feel them and they feel very uncomfortable. Why can't you feel yoiur pulse when they happen. If it is a heartbeat still, why is there no pulse. I don't get that part. Is it normal to have so many all the time non-stop. Just wondering...if I got some answers off anyone who knows the answers that might ease my mind a bit. I am still yet to have an echocardiogram and the 24 hour heart moniter test. Kind regards...Mandy
