    Career Change/Looking to the future.

Im well into my third month of anxiety, and into my first second month of recovery (best way to look at it I think!)

I'm now thinking of a career change, I've spent most of this year studying accounts and made myself ill over it. I'm bored of it and the thought of a career in it depresses me.

What I am thinking of doing is Psychology. Basically I want to get through and past my anxiety and then help and prevent me and others from going through this. I don't see why anyone should have to put up with this misery I have endured.

Does anyone on here know of good distance learning courses or point me in the right direction. Psychology is such a general term I don't really know what to look for.

Anyones help will be greatly appreciated.

    Mark.

There is a HUGE shortage of practical CBT therapists out there.

This may not be what you had in mind though.

The links to the official CBT college is on the website under 'finding help' or 'therapy'

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

What I am worried about if I do follow this career and go on to help people that my history of drug abuse this will count against me, this more so If I work for the NHS.

    Hi Roby,
Actually this could work in your favour especially if you went on to work as a CBT therapist for people overcoming drug abuse, as you will have the first hand knowledge of what they are going through and have been through, have you looked into this area as a career.
    Take care

I was just worried in case they saw my medical notes and thought 'christ this bloke used to be a lunatic'.

Sure I'd love to help people but I dont want to go through a load of hard work and fail at the final hurdle because of my past. It could work in my favour but I'm not sure everyone would see it that way.
