    Coming Off Mirtazapine

Well after two long years of taking this, I am now finally going to be coming off - 45mg. Has anybody had any experience of coming off this drug and what were the side effects?

    Thanks
    Banana

    Re: Coming Off Mirtazapine

Dear banana I had two goes at withdrawing from mirtazapine but unfortunately I have become ill again and had to go back on it at 30mg. Try to withdraw very slowly. The first time I reduced the mirtazapine I had a return of all my symptoms the worst being severe panic attacks and relentless anxiety. The second time I came off the mirtazapine the withdrawal was much shorter the panic and anxiety was the same but it was withdrawals and not a return of the illness. I used valium during the transition which helped considerably. I'm not addicted to it! I lost all my weight after that. As mirtazapine worked well whilst I was on it it's back. I have already put on some weight. I also posted a blog on here and got much support from my GP. Best wishes.
