i suffer acute misophonia (terrified of certain sounds) this is related to the trauma of sexual abuse as a boy,certain sounds can take me right back into the moment of the rape.as a crutch to lean on i wore earplugs from around summer 2006,after a particularly distressing flashback,until may 31st 2009.i woke up one sunny morning something had changed,for the better.in 5 days time i will have been ONE YEAR without them.this,in phobic terms is a minor miracle according to my doctor! so good people,good things can happen.
