    Can I still take valerian?

It's my first day on sertraline... and I feel absolutely terrible already, side effects hit me like a bus about two hours after the tablet. My question is, I've relied of valerian tablets to get me to sleep for months now. Is it still safe to take them? I forgot to ask my doctor, and I'd google, but we all know google isn't the place to go for medical advice.

My doc said it's alright to take lorazepam (a benzodiazepine) with zoloft if I can't sleep (I haven't started taking the meds yet). Since valerian is all natural, I don't see the harm in combining them however please don't take my word for it. If you can, you should call your doctor or your local pharmacy.
